The rumors weren't lying: Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: Black Ops II are coming to PS4 and PS5
Iron Galaxy studio is handling the ports.
Following recent rumors about Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: Black Ops II remasters, Treyarch studio has finally clarified the situation. It turns out that these are not full-fledged remasters, but rather ports of the original games to PlayStation consoles.
The developers announced this in a short message on Treyarch's official X page. The post states that the original Black Ops and Black Ops 2 "will be ported to PlayStation in July thanks to our partners at Iron Galaxy Studios." However, the studio did not specify whether the games will receive any graphical improvements or additional features, nor did it call the new versions remasters, but noted that players will get all modes — campaign, multiplayer, and zombie modes.
Rumors about the return of two popular installments of the series appeared after fresh age ratings for both games were discovered online. Many players assumed that these were remasters, but the absence of the "Remastered" label in the documents now seems quite logical — it is likely that the ratings were related precisely to the upcoming PlayStation ports.
