Pragmata's Development Was Monitored by "Diana's Police" to Prevent Capcom from Making the Heroine Too Cute
As a result, the developers were able to create a heroine who behaves quite naturally.
Capcom recently revealed a specific detail from the development history of Pragmata. The main character, Hugh, explores an AI-captured lunar station accompanied by a girl android named Diana.
As it turned out, the creation process of this heroine was overseen by "Diana's Police." This is what Pragmata producer Naoto Oyama called the group that conducted "thorough checks" to ensure that her image conveyed "natural childlike innocence and did not appear contrived or annoying to players."
"Diana's Police" monitored various aspects of the workflow, including voice acting and motion capture.
Most of this group of "police" were women. According to game director Cho Yonghee, it is easier for women to recognize a "falsely cute" portrayal of female characters, while "men would most likely say: 'What's the difference?'"
Practice has shown that the Pragmata team's approach worked — the game received "extremely positive" reviews on Steam, with a 96% rating. Many players praised Diana's resulting image.
