The Marvel Cinematic Universe may be joined by another A-list star.

Insider MyTimeToShineHello, who specializes in news about the Marvel Cinematic Universe, claims that Marvel Studios is in talks with Tom Cruise for a role in the film "Avengers: Secret Wars".

The source does not specify what role is being discussed. However, Cruise's name has been associated with Marvel for many years. Even before the launch of the cinematic universe and the release of the first "Iron Man," the actor was considered the main contender for the role of Tony Stark, which ultimately went to Robert Downey Jr.

Later, during the production of "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness," rumors actively circulated that Kevin Feige wanted to invite Cruise to play an alternate version of Tony Stark. However, this never happened, presumably due to the actor's busy filming schedule.

Now that Robert Downey Jr. has traded his Iron Man suit for the persona of Doctor Doom, Marvel has an excellent opportunity to introduce an alternate version of Tony Stark. Whether the studio will take advantage of this opportunity remains to be seen, but for now, this information should be treated with caution.

This is not the first insider report that Marvel is looking for A-list stars for its future projects. Earlier, MyTimeToShineHello also claimed that the studio was in talks with Brad Pitt and Rebecca Ferguson for major roles, but official confirmation of these rumors has yet to appear.

The premiere of "Avengers: Doctor Doom" is scheduled for December 18, 2026, and "Avengers: Secret Wars" will be released on December 17, 2027.
