"He's Brilliant": Gillian Anderson Shares Thoughts on "The X-Files" Reboot Script
The actress, who played Dana Scully, is confident that the cult franchise is in good hands.
Gillian Anderson shared her first impressions of the new version of "The X-Files," which is being developed by "Black Panther" director Ryan Coogler. The actress stated that the director is perfectly suited to bring back the cult franchise:
"I can't imagine a person who would be better suited for this job. I can't wait to see the result, because Ryan is an outstanding writer. I read his script, and it's brilliant. I was impressed by how different this story is from the original, yet it still remains true to 'The X-Files'."
Coogler wrote the script and directed the two-hour pilot episode, the filming of which concluded in early July. Jennifer Yale serves as the showrunner for the project, and the creator of the original series, Chris Carter, is involved as an executive producer.
The main roles went to Danielle Deadwyler and Himesh Patel. They will play two accomplished FBI agents whose investigation leads to the reopening of a long-closed department for studying unexplained phenomena.
Earlier, Anderson and David Duchovny, who played Fox Mulder, stated that they were willing to consider returning to their characters if suitable ideas were available. However, there are no concrete agreements regarding their participation in the new series yet, and the future of the project after the pilot episode remains unknown.
