One Step Away from "Endgame": "Spider-Man: A New Day" Grosses $927 Million in Opening Weekend

The film achieved the second-best global opening in history and came close to another record, which it may still reach after recalculation.

"Spider-Man: A New Day" earned approximately $927 million in its first days of global release. This marks the second-best opening in cinematic history – only "Avengers: Endgame," which debuted in 2019 with $1.22 billion, performed better.

In the US and Canada, Destin Daniel Cretton's film collected an estimated $355 million. It fell short of "Avengers: Endgame"'s absolute record by just $2.1 million – the crossover started with $357.1 million in 2019. The final figures may change after recalculation, so "A New Day" still has a chance to surpass "Endgame" – precise numbers will be available on August 3rd in the afternoon.

Outside the US and Canada, the film earned $572 million. China was the largest international market, where the film grossed $121 million. The film also set opening weekend records in France, India, Brazil, Spain, and several other countries. Sony initially projected global box office receipts for the first weekend to be around $425 million, but the actual result more than doubled the studio's expectations.
