Kratos We Won't See: Ryan Hurst Shares New Photo in God of War Series Look

In the new photo, the actor looks much more powerful than in the first official shot from Prime Video.

Ryan Hurst posted a new photo on social media in the image of Kratos from the God of War series. The actor soon deleted the picture, but it had already spread across the network. In the photo, Hurst looks noticeably more massive than in the first official shot from Prime Video, which some viewers criticized for its resemblance to amateur cosplay and the actor's insufficiently impressive physique.

However, viewers will no longer see this version of Kratos. In late June, Hurst suffered a serious biceps injury and underwent surgery. After discussing further plans, Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures Television decided to replace the lead actor, as the actor's recovery could take up to a year, and the studios are not ready to postpone production for such a long period.

Dave Bautista is now considered the main contender for the role of Kratos. According to rumors, the star of "Dune" and "Guardians of the Galaxy" is already in negotiations with Amazon, but the contract has not yet been signed. Wrestler Adam Scherr, known by his stage name Braun Strowman, also hinted at his participation in the project.

Amazon expects to resume filming in October 2026. Before Hurst's injury, the team managed to shoot material for four episodes, which will now have to be redone with the new Kratos actor. How much the forced replacement will affect the production schedule is unknown, as the premiere date for God of War was not initially announced.
