Asa Germann wanted the role of Cyclops, but Marvel preferred Kit Connor.

Insider James Mac reported that "Gen V" star Asa Germann may play Warren Worthington III, also known as Angel, in the "X-Men" reboot. Earlier, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Germann auditioned for the role of Cyclops, but Kit Connor ultimately got the part.

Angel was part of the original X-Men lineup in the comics, along with Cyclops, Jean Grey, Beast, and Iceman. Warren was born into a wealthy family and gained the ability to fly thanks to his wings. Later, Apocalypse transformed him into Archangel with metallic wings and deadly feathers. On the big screen, Angel has been played by Ben Foster in "X-Men: The Last Stand" and Ben Hardy in "X-Men: Apocalypse."

Marvel Studios has not yet revealed the new X-Men cast. The team was expected to be introduced at D23 from August 14 to 16, but now the announcement is in question after one of the actors declined a role.
