Will Netflix ban streams of the GTA VI presentation? Streamer called support and confirmed fears
This summer, Netflix announced "Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look." The premiere broadcast will take place on August 27 and will be exclusively available on the service for six hours – after which the materials will be uploaded to another platform.
Various opinions are circulating online regarding the copyright of the broadcast. It is believed that one can share individual frames and reactions, but not conduct a full restream of the presentation from Netflix.
Streamer Witty (@Joseph_Witty), after the presentation announcement, decided to call Netflix support and ask if it was possible to stream "An Extended Look." They replied: "You cannot share your screen during a stream because it is related to digital rights."
"Antromer" noted that the widely circulated statements about the possibility of showing the GTA VI demonstration from Netflix were taken out of context – there is a risk that videos or streams may be blocked for copyright infringement if publications appeared during the 6-hour exclusivity period:
Yes, according to official information from a Netflix representative, it was allowed to freely show and share the GTA 6 demonstration in the form of reactions, reviews, and even broadcasts of the show on platforms. But most importantly, as I found out, the information was taken out of context, and it turns out that it will be possible to freely demonstrate the show from Netflix ONLY after the full completion of the subscription broadcast, which, according to rumors, will last about 30-60 minutes.
He reminded that Netflix has "a very harsh [copyright] strike, which they quite often like to issue. In addition, this process is almost fully automated for them," so he recommends being careful to those who were going to do a real-time stream, video, or reaction.
