A "Russian trace" has been added to GTA VI leaks - some decided that the hacker is hiding from justice in Russia
Hacker CyberLeek continues to publish various materials about Grand Theft Auto VI online. Recently, a screenshot of the game's final credits went viral in the community.
Players were very surprised, as not English-language credits were shown, but a version with Russian localization. Users, like Plus-Supermarket-577, came up with a theory that the hacker is currently hiding in Russia or might be a local resident:
I am by no means claiming that this is the case, but there are serious grounds to believe that this hacker is based in a country where the FBI has no jurisdiction. I say this also because Rockstar already tried to shut down a remake of GTA: Vice City on the RAGE engine, made by Russian modders – the entire game, including missions, was ported to the GTA IV engine. Rockstar could not do this because the authors were in Russia. Similarly, in one of CyberLeek's posts, you can see him showing the final credits of GTA VI while playing the Russian version of the game.
However, some enthusiasts conducted an investigation and came to the conclusion that the "Russian trace" in the GTA VI leak is a mere fabrication. Users compared the credits with similar ones from GTA V and realized that someone simply overlaid text on top of a frame from the leak. For example, Leslie Benzies was listed as the producer in these "GTA VI credits".
The official release of Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for November 19 this year on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. Nothing has been reported yet about the PC version's release window.
CyberLeek is now trying to expand the monetization of Grand Theft Auto VI leaks. It recently became known that he offered to place advertisements – but one would first have to pay just for the opportunity to discuss cooperation with him.
