Lords of the Fallen 2 Developers Reveal Changes to the Sequel's World and Story
During Gamescom Opening Night Live 2025, CI Games announced Lords of the Fallen 2, a sequel to the 2023 soulslike project.
The first part was distinguished by its dark atmosphere and unique Umbral system, but received criticism for its confusing storyline, aggressive enemy placement, and unstable level of difficulty. The developers promised that these aspects would be improved in the sequel.
In an interview, David Vallaillo from CI Games emphasized that the main goal in Lords of the Fallen 2 is to make the plot more transparent.
"In the previous game, the narrative was very rich and complex, which, combined with the extensive environmental storytelling, sometimes led to chaos. This time, we are focusing on clarity and simplicity to tell a captivating story in an accessible language."
Another important aspect is the balance of difficulty. The first part was simpler than typical soulslikes, but players complained about the excessive accumulation of enemies in certain locations. CI Games updated and balanced the game for 18 months, culminating in the release of a major 2.0 patch.
"In the sequel, we want to immediately offer the optimal level of difficulty," added the studio representative.
Lords of the Fallen 2 will be released in 2026, the exact date is not yet known.
