Valve has found a way to attract players to the MOBA.
August turned out to be quite productive for the free-to-play MOBA game Dota 2. According to Steam Charts data, Valve's game has seen a significant increase in its average online player count.
The service recorded an average online value of 532,355 players — the highest since 2019 (when the average was 548,000 in May). For comparison, the metric was at 426,672 players in July.
In early August, Valve introduced "The Qwertower Oddities" — players earn experience for matches played, and free rewards are given as levels are upgraded.
It is assumed that the noticeable increase in player activity in Dota 2 is precisely due to the introduction of this system.
