The replacement of Henry Cavill with Liam Hemsworth isn't the only cast update in the new season of "The Witcher."
Redanian Intelligence reports that there will be another important replacement in the fourth season of "The Witcher." Netflix has confirmed Peter Mullan for the role of Vesemir, Geralt's mentor and one of the key characters in the Witcher mythology. He will replace Kim Bodnia, who played the character in the second season.
It became known back in October 2024 that Bodnia would not be returning to the role. According to the actor's representatives, the decision is not related to creative differences or changes in the concept of the character. The reason was a scheduling conflict: "Kim will not return to the role of Vesemir, as his current filming schedule did not coincide with the production schedule for the fourth season", they said in a comment to RadioTimes. But only now has it become known who will take his place.
In recent years, Peter Mullan has appeared in a number of notable projects, from "Ozark" and "Westworld" to "The Nevers," where he starred alongside Freya Allan (Ciri). He also played the role of King Durin III in "The Rings of Power."
The fourth season of "The Witcher" will bring back several Witchers from Kaer Morhen: in addition to Vesemir, Lambert and Coen will reappear in the story. Their storyline will unfold in the main timeline, without flashbacks.
The season premiere, according to Redanian Intelligence, is expected in late October. An analysis of Netflix's schedule led the publication to suggest that the release will take place on October 30, but there is no official confirmation yet.
