The Russian release of "Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle" will begin next Thursday, September 18.
"Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle" debuted in the American box office on September 12 with a record result of $33 million on its first day. This amount was enough to surpass even "Pokémon 2000" and "Demon Slayer: Mugen Train", which were previously considered the leaders among anime films in the US.
For comparison, "Mugen Train" started with $21 million for the weekend, "Pokémon 2000" with $31 million. However, this is a nominal record, since, adjusted for inflation since 1999, "Pokémon 2000" earned about $61.6 million at the start.
The film was released in 3315 US cinemas. According to Sony's forecast, the premiere weekend should have brought in $35 million, but it is already clear that the real result will be higher - some analysts expect up to $60 million. This could lead to a new record.
Right now, the highest-grossing anime in the history of the global box office is the first film "Demon Slayer: Mugen Train" with $507 million in worldwide box office revenue. Of these, only $49.5 million was collected in the US, and the new film should surpass this result, making a significant contribution to the overall "kitty".
Taking into account the box office in Japan and Asian countries, the film has already earned over $315 million, and there is still a release ahead in many regions of the world.
