The new full-length anime from the "Demon Slayer" franchise has managed to break its own record.
According to Box Office Mojo, the anime film "Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle" has grossed approximately $555 million worldwide, surpassing the previous record holder "Mugen Train," whose result was $507 million. Thus, the film has become the highest-grossing Japanese project in the history of international distribution.
It is worth noting the success in North America: "Infinity Castle" revenue in the United States exceeded $104 million. This is not only an absolute record for Japanese animation, but also the first time that anime has topped the American box office for two consecutive weekends.
The film became one of the main global hits of 2025, entering the top ten highest-grossing films, surpassing, among others, "Fantastic Four: First Steps."
In the domestic market of Japan, the film currently ranks second. As of mid-September, the box office amounted to about 40 billion yen — 700 million yen less than "Mugen Train."
"Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle" acts as the first part of the final "Demon Slayer" trilogy. The project was once again directed by Haruo Sotozaki, and the Ufotable studio was not only responsible for the animation, but also for the script adaptation of the final arc of the original manga.
The premiere of the film in Russian cinemas took place on September 18.
