Capcom's Pragmata combines a third-person shooter with puzzles. While the idea of a two-player co-op was possible, the developers decided it didn't fit their vision for the game.
In an interview, producer Naoto Oyama explained why they chose a strictly single-player mode, despite the project's "cooperative" nature.
"We considered the possibility of two players, but our main goal is to offer a new gaming experience. We have fully focused on the player's "engagement" and the pleasure of managing both combat and puzzles at the same time, which led to the current form of the game."
According to the team, splitting combat and hacking tasks between two players would reduce the pleasure of multitasking between Hugh and Diana's contrasting styles. The game actually forces the player to cooperate with himself: Diana can hack the path that Hugh then moves along using jetpacks or hover abilities, and in large locations she is able to scan the territory and indicate the correct route. Interaction will become a key element of the gameplay.
Capcom promises that Pragmata will offer a worthy challenge for experienced players and will not scare away beginners. The difficulty will gradually increase as you master the mechanics and hacking, and closer to release, the developers will show more details.
The game will be released in 2026 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X❘S.
