The CEO of Sweet Baby Inc. stated that the company did its job in the best possible way and "didn't break anything." According to her, people who oppose the agenda in games are actually against progress and innovation.
Previously, the studio was criticized for imposing narratives and DEI agendas (diversity, equality, and inclusion), which led to the failure of some projects.
Despite the hype around Sweet Baby subsiding and the industry moving away from forced DEI, company head Kim Belair noted in a recent podcast that criticism of the agenda hinders the progressive development and growth of games. The studio participated in the creation of major projects such as Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Alan Wake 2, being responsible for narrative decisions.
Belair emphasized that creative decisions are a battlefield with wins and losses, and Sweet Baby did its job as efficiently as possible. But the company crossed the fine line between consulting and direct intervention.
Fans do not fully share this opinion: many accused the studio of destroying storylines due to the imposition of DEI, and Spider-Man 2 was also criticized.
