Marc-Alexis Côté said he would never have left the company where he worked for so many years.
As it turned out, the head of the Assassin's Creed franchise, Marc-Alexis Côté, did not suddenly decide to leave Ubisoft, where he had worked for 20 years. The company asked him to step down after he turned down an offer to join the new subsidiary Vantage Studios, which will oversee major Ubisoft franchises, including Assassin's Creed.
Ubisoft decided to transfer the leadership of the Assassin's Creed franchise to a person more suited to the company's new organizational structure. I was offered another position, but it did not involve the same scale, authority, and continuity with the work I had been doing in recent years. But I must say directly: I did not leave on my own. I remained in my position until Ubisoft asked me to leave it.
Côté emphasized that he holds no grudges and will always be grateful for the people, projects, and belief that together they could create worlds that inspire millions.
