Amidst the active implementation of tools like Sora 2, discussions about the role of AI in game development have become even more heated. Some industry veterans, including Yoko Taro, are already predicting that in a few decades, human developers will be replaced by AI.
Silent Hill series producer Motoi Okamoto commented on Hideo Kojima's recent interview.
Kojima stated that the future of remakes and sequels is likely to be in the hands of AI: creating them is easier and safer than original projects. His words quickly spread across the network. Kojima, in essence, warns: if you only make sequels, AI will easily replace humans.
Okamoto supported the idea, but clarified that not all sequels are the same. In his opinion, AI is capable of putting together a script for another installment of Silent Hill, but not creating a game that radically changes the series.
«AI would not have thought of moving the action to 1960s Japan or bringing in Ryukishi07 as a screenwriter. Such decisions require human courage».
