According to information from the simscommunity.info portal, EA and Maxis are planning to release a reworked version of "the fourth installment."
According to insiders, Maxis is working on a separate version of the base game, which will eventually replace the current The Sims 4. This is not The Sims 5, but rather "The Sims 4 HD" — a remaster on Project Rene technology. Instead of a giant update to the old version, the studio is improving graphics, lighting, and modifying the engine.
Insiders also indicate:
- The new release will be more complete from the very start;
- The seasons system from the Seasons expansion and memories/important events from Growing Together are integrated into the base;
- Simulation outside the home is enhanced. The world will become noticeably more alive;
- The project is related to Project Rene, a modular platform for current and future games in the series;
- A recent EA survey concerned save compatibility with the "new version";
- The remaster will add free movement around districts without loading screens between lots, which fans have been waiting for since E3 2014.
So far, these are just rumors and leaks, but the concept of The Sims 4 Remastered as a modern, full-fledged base looks logical.
