Kirby Air Riders recently received update 1.2.0, and now the developers only have to make final balance adjustments and fix minor bugs.
Masahiro Sakurai, game director of Kirby Air Riders, announced that the project's development team will be disbanded in the near future. In his blog, he noted that the studio has little time left to complete the final balance adjustments. After that, work on the Switch 2 exclusive will effectively be completed.
Although the news may sound alarming, in reality it means the opposite — the team's confidence in the result. According to Sakurai, the developers have completed all the tasks, implemented all the planned content, and do not plan to release add-ons or expansions.
The latest major update to Kirby Air Riders, version 1.2.0, was released on December 11. The patch added the ability to scan amiibo, online functionality, made large-scale balance changes, and fixed dozens of bugs. Nintendo clarified that the remaining issues will be fixed in the next small patch, which will be the final one.
Thus, Sakurai's statement rather hints at the completion of one stage — the team is ready to move on to new projects.
