Not all of the developers' ideas made it to release, and the community tried to restore the content.
For several years, modders have been creating Mafia II: Final Cut — an improved version of the game that included previously cut content. However, the new version of the project will not be released.
The NIGHT WOLVES community announced the cancellation of development:
The team that was working on it has completely left, and I will not work on the project alone. We were not programmers or people who understand game development, we were ordinary enthusiasts who managed to make changes to the game. We had to fix a large number of bugs, which led to serious burnout and unwillingness to work on this game.
The developer noted that the desire to quit arose several years ago, but "the expectations of people and the support of our work did not allow us to do this":
But still, the moment came when the development process stopped moving and even through "I don't want to" work was no longer done. Unfortunately, this project will be remembered by us only from the negative side, we did not have enough strength and nerves to bring it to mind.
