ASUS enters the XR device market with a flagship model specifically targeted at gamers.
At CES 2026, ASUS presented the ROG Xreal R1 extended reality glasses, created in collaboration with the Chinese company Xreal.
The ROG Xreal R1 is equipped with micro-OLED panels featuring a 240 Hz refresh rate and 1080p resolution. The package includes the ROG Control Dock with HDMI and DisplayPort ports for connecting to PCs and consoles, while connecting to the handheld ROG Ally is as simple as linking the devices via USB-C.
According to ASUS, the glasses create a virtual screen with a diagonal of up to 171 inches at a distance of about four meters with a 57-degree field of view. It is claimed that the image covers up to 95% of the focus area.
The design is executed in the signature Republic of Gamers style and includes RGB lighting. The device weighs 91 grams. The built-in speakers were developed by Bose, and electrochromic dimming technology allows for automatic or manual adjustment of lens transparency depending on lighting conditions.
The cost of the device has not yet been disclosed. The start of sales is scheduled for the first half of 2026.
