Emilia Clarke Has No Plans to Return to Fantasy After "Game of Thrones"
The actress has definitively ruled out any return to the image of Daenerys Targaryen.
Emilia Clarke has put an end to talks about her possible return to the "Game of Thrones" universe. In an interview with The New York Times, the actress admitted that after nearly a decade in the role of Daenerys Targaryen, she has consciously closed the fantasy genre for herself.
"You're unlikely to ever see me on a dragon again – or even in the same frame as a dragon."
This was the answer to a question about the actress's participation in any fantasy projects – and it definitively removes all speculation about Clarke's possible return in future HBO spin-offs, despite the fact that the studio continues to actively develop the universe of George R. R. Martin. According to the actress, filming in "Game of Thrones" turned out to be emotionally exhausting for her, especially due to the controversial finale, in which Daenerys turned into the Mad Queen.
Back in 2021, Clarke admitted that it took her time to accept what happened in the finale of "Game of Thrones". Since then, the actress has consciously avoided roles in any fantasy projects, preferring realistic and dramatic roles.
