13% of PS5 Console Sales in the US in 2025 Were Pro Models, Analysts Say
A figure comparable to the success of the PS4 Pro in its time.
According to Circana Retail Tracking Service, about 13% of all PlayStation 5 consoles sold in the US last year were Pro models. This is a solid result for a more powerful version of the system and a figure comparable to the success of the PS4 Pro, which at one time accounted for approximately 13% of all PS4 sales in the American market over its lifetime.
At the same time, the PS5 Pro is noticeably more expensive than its predecessor: the recommended price of the console is $749.99 / £699.99. However, the increase in cost is typical for the entire PlayStation 5 line — the base model also costs significantly more than the PS4 at a similar stage in its life cycle.
Additional Circana data shows changes in consumer habits. In 2025, 49% of PS5s sold and as many as 66% of Xbox Series consoles were sold without a disc drive for physical media. In addition, 7% of PS5 owners purchased a PlayStation Portal portable device, which indicates a steady interest in the Sony accessory ecosystem.
