Disturbing elements are "masked," but now the game looks like the textures are bugged.

Resident Evil Requiem has many violent scenes, and the project has been censored in Japan. At the same time, Capcom does not remove disturbing moments, but "masks" them by disabling some game assets. As a result, players get a specific picture.

iStretchyDisc played the censored version of the game and shared his impressions — he believes that such elements of censorship violate immersion.

Instead of "guts", the developers show just black shaders. This was tested in the remake of Resident Evil 4, and in the new part of the franchise everything became worse:

In Requiem, due to the much more detailed scenes of violence in both cutscenes and gameplay, this black censorship is much more noticeable, in my opinion, to the point that it greatly destroys the immersion. [...] It's funny that, like the ESRB rating system, the Japanese CERO system (which is the source of this censorship) does not apply to PC games. That is, Capcom could well release its Biohazard series games on PC in Japan without censorship, but they themselves prefer to leave the same censorship as on consoles... although there is none of this in American releases.

Some members of the discussion suggested that this is just a bug with the lack of textures, but other players confirmed that this is indeed such an approach to censorship.
