The experience of working on the first KCD was used in creating the sequel.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance II received many positive reviews from journalists and ordinary gamers. Those who played the first KCD noted the significant progress of Warhorse Studios.
Recently, Prokop Jirsa spoke with EDGE and explained why Kingdom Come: Deliverance II became better:
In the first game, many things were completely new, and we were experimenting and learning on the fly. When you try something truly new, the chance that everything will work out perfectly from day one is extremely small
When Warhorse Studios began developing Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, the situation was different — there was an understanding of what to do and how to do it:
We already knew what worked and what did not, and what improvements players expected from us [...] By the time KCD II was released, the studio employed about 250 people — roughly a hundred more than on the first game. Along with this came new workflows and structures, thanks to which we gained a much clearer understanding of the project's condition and of how all the systems were connected to one another. This was the only way to keep such a complex project under control.
