X-Men veterans return to their roles in the new Marvel crossover.
James Marsden said he doubted he would return to the role of Cyclops in the movie "Avengers: Doctor Doom." The actor first played Scott Summers in "X-Men" in 2000 and will now return to the character again at 52.
In an interview with the New York Post, he admitted that he wasn't sure if Marvel needed a "fifty-year-old Cyclops," and doubted that he could cope with the physical exertion and look organic in the role after years.
The doubts disappeared on the set. Marsden was impressed by Ian McKellen, who even at 86 is actively involved in the work and strives to perform stunts on his own. According to the actor, McKellen sometimes literally pushed the stuntman away with the words "Let me try it myself."
"Avengers: Doctor Doom" will be released on December 18, 2026 and will bring together more than three dozen characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the X-Men movies of the Fox era on one screen.
