Pragmata has become yet another demonstration of the RE Engine's capabilities, but a technical analysis by Digital Foundry showed noticeable differences between platforms.
On the base PS5 and Xbox Series X, players are offered two modes, performance and quality, but both run at native 1080p. Capcom uses the outdated AMD FSR 1 upscaling, which is why when trying to output the image in 4K, the picture looks "muddy" and blurred.
Quality mode adds ray tracing and improved hair rendering, but reduces stability — the frame rate can drop below 60 FPS, especially in demanding scenes.
The PS5 Pro performed the best of all. Thanks to PSSR technology, the image looks significantly better despite the lower base resolution of 864p. The console supports all graphical effects and maintains more stable performance. There is also a 120 Hz mode with frame rates from 60 to 100 FPS and VRR support.
The junior platforms delivered unexpected results. The Xbox Series S holds a stable 60 FPS, but only due to heavily cut-down graphics, with scaling from 720p. In 2026, this looks weak.
At the same time, the Nintendo Switch 2, despite an even lower base resolution, delivers a higher-quality image thanks to modern anti-aliasing methods. In Digital Foundry's view, this is a signal for the industry to abandon FSR 1.
Right now, the best console version of Pragmata is on PS5 Pro.
