Warner Bros. quietly removed Cars 3 from digital stores

Without fanfare, farewell sales, or even a short social media message, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has delisted Cars 3: Driven to Win.

The 2017 game simultaneously disappeared from the Nintendo eShop, PlayStation Store, and Microsoft Store on current and two previous generations of consoles. Such a move is rare: even major publishers usually give players a few weeks to buy a game before the license expires.

The project was developed by Avalanche Software, which later worked on Hogwarts Legacy. The situation highlights how unstable the availability of licensed games can be.

The probable reason is the expiration of agreements between Disney and Warner Bros. 2026 marks the 20th anniversary of the "Cars" franchise, which is often accompanied by contract renegotiations. In mid-April, other Disney games also disappeared from Steam, indicating a broader cleanup.

Currently, the only way to buy the game is a physical version on the secondary market. The game is not tied to online services, so discs will continue to work, and owners of the digital version can still download it.
