Phasmophobia Developers Apologize for Update Quality and Announce Planned Fixes

After the update, some players were scared not by ghosts, but by character models.

In May, an update for the ghost-hunting horror game Phasmophobia was released, which received criticism. The developers introduced new character models, and their quality did not satisfy players. There were also complaints about buggy animations and other aspects of the game.

Kinetic Games studio addressed the community and announced the next update, designed to fix a number of issues:

First, we want to apologize for the character update released last week. It's clear that we failed to deliver and did not meet your expectations. Your feedback and ratings were fair. Over the past year, our team has grown significantly, and with it, the quality bar has risen, which, in this case, we were unable to maintain.

The creators of Phasmophobia plan to release an update on May 12. They promise many fixes, refinements, and changes that should “bring the game closer to the vision they originally intended for this update.”

For example, the item swap animation in the inventory will be removed, allowing for instant changes to held equipment.

The developers will fix the bug with character head display, and also change the position of most devices held in character hands. They presented several “before / after” frames for comparison:
