Project Zomboid Improves Optimization, Liquid Containers, and Mod Support
In 42.18.0 Unstable, developers introduced technical improvements and adjusted the characteristics of some items.
The creators of the survival game Project Zomboid have released a new dev diary dedicated to the upcoming build 42.18.0 Unstable. They talked about some changes and improvements.
The Indie Stone team primarily focused on improving mod support, as well as fixing bugs in multiplayer and single-player. In addition, some balance adjustments will be implemented in the game:
The team is actively working on mod support. This includes internal changes for the correct operation of some multiplayer mods affected by recent security updates, adding new features for modders, and fixing a number of issues that could cause mod-related errors. Work is ongoing, so modders can expect even more improvements in future updates.
In 42.18.0 Unstable, the Project Zomboid developers also refined sound propagation in multiplayer and improved optimization.
In addition, "Improvised Gas Mask Filters" have been reworked.
This change closes the gap between standard Gas Masks and simple Bandanas, and also provides a renewable source of protection in the early and mid-game. And remember: although gas masks provide some protection from generator exhaust indoors, it won't last long — and in general, this contradicts the manufacturer's recommendations.
Some liquid containers have also been buffed to better match their real-world counterparts (changes affect Canteens, Western Canteens, metal Jerry Cans, and Hydration Packs).
The full list of changes is available at the following link. You can join the testing through "Betas" on Steam.
