Director of "Masters of the Universe" Reveals Main Difference Between Reboot and 80s Cartoon
It seems Skeletor won't have to promise to return "next week."
Travis Knight, director of "Masters of the Universe," spoke about how the new film will differ from the classic 80s cartoon. According to the director, the reboot will move away from the familiar scheme where Skeletor came up with a new grand plan every week, got his comeuppance, and promised to return next week. In the new version, the creators decided to ask: what if Skeletor's plan works one day and he wins?
"We asked ourselves, 'What happens if he actually wins?' Essentially, that's where we start our film. Skeletor's plan finally works out."
According to the plot, Prince Adam, played by Nicholas Galitzine, is separated from Eternia for 15 years. When the Sword of Power brings him home, the hero discovers that the kingdom is destroyed and under Skeletor's rule. To save his family and the world, Adam will have to team up with Teela and Duncan, and then accept the destiny of He-Man.
The premiere of the new "Masters of the Universe" is scheduled for June 5, 2026.
