Creators of "One Piece" to Adapt Brandon Sanderson's "Skyward"

Tomorrow Studios, which produces the series "One Piece" for Netflix, will adapt Brandon Sanderson's science fiction series "Skyward".

The project is in early development, and the pilot episode script will be written by Sanderson himself, Jed Whedon, and Maurissa Tancharoen, known for the series "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.".

The action of "Skyward" unfolds in a world where the remnants of humanity are trapped on a harsh planet and constantly fend off attacks from a mysterious alien race called the Krell. The main character is Spensa Nightshade, a girl who dreams of becoming a fighter pilot but faces contempt from those around her because her father is considered a traitor.

"Skyward" is the third major screen project based on Sanderson's works this year. Earlier, adaptations of the "Mistborn" and "Stormlight Archive" series were announced, on which the writer is collaborating with Apple.
