Blogger Launched Half-Life on Nokia N95 and Showed Gameplay
Valve's classic worked surprisingly well.
Tech enthusiast blogger Dante D. Leoncini recently attracted the attention of fans of a well-known Valve franchise. He managed to launch the first Half-Life on a very old phone model.
The platform for launching the cult shooter was the Nokia N95 — on this device, introduced in 2007, he managed not only to turn on the game but also to achieve an acceptable frame rate.
Dante D. Leoncini clarified that the project is in the polishing stage, but even now, it is generally possible to play Half-Life on Nokia N95 — the controls work:
Still working on weapons, and some performance and graphics details. But all controls are already working. You can create a dedicated server and use all weapons. The next step is LAN/network play with other computers.
The blogger also tried to implement support for custom modifications, but it turned out to be "harder than he thought." However, custom maps, according to Dante D. Leoncini, "should work fine."
Half-Life 3 was never announced at Summer Game Fest — fans' latest "hopes" were not realized.
