Dying Light 2 Sees a Surge of Negative Reviews on Steam - Players Unhappy with June Update
The update introduced "improvements" to the early game that greatly upset fans.
In June, Techland studio teased an update for Dying Light 2: Reloaded Edition. Players expected new content, but instead, they found a reason for dissatisfaction.
With The Breach Update (1.28), the game introduced the Breach system, which, according to the developers' vision, will turn Dying Light 2 into "a rich platform for new experiences and adventures."
Gamers are invited to play and create user-generated content:
Immerse yourself in a world where you can create and explore custom maps and mods. Whether it's simple gameplay changes or entirely new game scenarios, Breach empowers you to create your own adventures! Inspired by the Tower Raid mode, we are expanding the "hub" by adding old acquaintances — Tolga and Fatin, who are now with us for good. You can find them in the "hub" immediately after completing the prologue. Take on quests, explore community-created maps and mods, and earn unique rewards.

In addition, in update 1.28, the developers introduced "early stage improvements" for Dying Light 2: Stay Human. The game's prologue was reworked to make it "shorter and more dynamic, so players dive into the main part of the game faster." In practice, this means that content related to a character named Spike, which some players enjoyed, was removed from the prologue.
Now they are expressing their dissatisfaction in Steam reviews. The rating of Dying Light 2: Reloaded Edition has not yet collapsed, but there is a noticeable surge of negative reviews on Steam.

Some players hope that the creators of Dying Light 2: Reloaded Edition will review the feedback and reconsider their decision regarding the early part of the game.
