Bethesda shut down The Elder Scrolls: Blades servers - now modders are trying to save the game on their own
In late June, the story of The Elder Scrolls: Blades, launched in 2019, came to an end. Bethesda removed the game from digital services even before the official shutdown, and the developers also lowered prices in the store so that players could enjoy the action-RPG.
The Elder Scrolls: Blades was initially available on iOS and Android mobile devices, and later the game made its way to the Nintendo Switch console. Players were offered to take on the role of an imperial agent and protect the inhabitants of a settlement from ancient evil.
The free-to-play The Elder Scrolls: Blades did not become a "mega-hit," but the project has a certain fan base. After the shutdown, some players drew attention to the project of modders "new blades" — they are striving to preserve the game. Tech enthusiasts are developing a server emulator that will allow them to continue the adventure in the world of Elder Scrolls.
Modders recalled a precedent: when Bethesda shut down the collectible card game The Elder Scrolls: Legends, fans launched their own full-fledged server emulator and the company did not interfere.
