Some fans continue to await the announcement of a new game from Valve.

There are many rumors circulating about the HLX project (the presumed Half-Life 3). Initially, it was thought that the game could become a "launch project" to promote Steam Machine. However, Valve's new devices have already gone on sale, and the game is still not available.

Some explain this by saying that the company decided to postpone the game because the components are expensive, which affected the price of Steam Machine. Now, a well-known Half-Life community blogger-insider, Tyler McVicker, has decided to speak out.

Rumor has it that the game "doesn't meet the required level" and Valve decided to postpone it. Judging by what he heard, Valve apparently no longer considers releasing the game this year:

According to the people I've spoken to, the game... well, let's just say: I won't reveal everything, but 2026 might no longer be on the table.

Tyler McVicker also stated that Valve has allocated an entire floor in the office for Half-Life 3 and that it's "only a matter of time until they feel the project is truly complete."

Earlier, dataminers found traces of sub-pixel antialiasing technology, GPU-driven particle effects, deformable geometry in Dota 2 files; they noted the elaboration of damage types and more. There is also an opinion that Half-Life 3's system requirements have grown, allegedly because the company is pushing the boundaries of graphics. Tyler McVicker admits that the game might have been originally developed for Steam Machine, but now it has been "separated" from this "hardware."

Recently, the developer of the unofficial Half-Life 2: Episode Three reminded about himself. The modder is making the "sequel" himself and intends to present the first version of the project at the end of 2026.
