In July, Bethesda Game Studios announced several new projects for the Fallout franchise. There will be full-fledged new games, as well as remasters of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas.
Players began discussing these announcements, and Todd Howard himself dropped into the comments. The developer admitted that he tracks forum posts, and, according to him, many of his colleagues do the same.
However, Todd Howard prefers to read quietly and usually doesn't write anything:
Hi, Reddit. I'm a professional "silent observer" – usually just reading and rarely writing, but constantly browsing your comments. Many of us do the same, and we sincerely appreciate the passion you have for our work. I know I hardly post anything myself, and in general, we tend to be quiet. The recent announcement with the reveals is an attempt to change that: to tell you what we've been working on for the past few years, and to show a little of what's ahead.
Todd Howard also noted that player suggestions are studied – some ideas eventually made it into Bethesda Game Studios games:
Know that we are constantly listening to you, and keep suggesting how we can get even better. You'd be surprised how many great ideas I find on Reddit. So vote for the posts and comments you like – and we'll implement them. Maybe.
