Marvel May Turn "Champions" and "Strange Academy" into Films - Insider

The studio has already transformed "Nova" from a series into a film and canceled the second season of "Wonder Man." Now, two more projects may undergo changes.

According to insider Daniel Richtman, Marvel Studios is considering turning "Champions" and "Strange Academy" into feature films, but the studio has not yet made a final decision on either project.

"Champions" has already gone through several concept variations. According to previous rumors, Marvel initially planned a Young Avengers film, and later reworked it into a series. The potential team could include young heroes who have already appeared in the cinematic universe, including Kate Bishop, Kamala Khan, Cassie Lang, and America Chavez.

"Strange Academy" was supposed to tell the story of a school for young sorcerers. It was assumed that one of the central characters would be Wong, played by Benedict Wong. According to insiders, the development of the series was previously suspended simultaneously with the projects about Nova and Terror, Inc. However, we now know that in the case of "Nova," the pause was due to a change in format.

Initially, Nova's story was developed as a series for Disney+, but now the project is being prepared as a feature film. At the same time, the studio canceled the second season of "Wonder Man," although a continuation was previously in development. Now, a similar fate may await two more projects, originally conceived for streaming.

Marvel Studios has not officially announced either "Champions" or "Strange Academy." Information about both projects has only appeared in the media and insider reports over the past few years. Nevertheless, the possible change in format is consistent with Marvel's overall restructuring of its streaming strategy.
