Zack Snyder to Direct Pilot Episode of "300" Prequel for Netflix - Insider
The future of the project will be decided after the pilot episode is created.
According to film critic and host of The Hot Mic podcast, John Rocha, Warner Bros. Television has reached an agreement with Netflix to collaborate on a "300" prequel series. Zack Snyder will return to the franchise to direct the pilot episode and serve as one of the executive producers.
Work on the project has already begun: a writers' room has been assembled for the series, but Netflix has not yet ordered a full season. Snyder will first direct the pilot, and only after that will the streaming service decide whether the story will continue.
Along with Snyder, his long-time partners Deborah Snyder and Wesley Coller from Stone Quarry are producing the series. Earlier reports suggested that the producers of the original "300," Gianni Nunnari, Mark Canton, and Bernie Goldmann, might also return to the project, but nothing is known about their current involvement.

Snyder's return to "300" was first discussed in 2024. At that time, the director confirmed that he was working on the series and said that he and his team were already discussing possible directions for the story:
"We're just about to dive into it. It's a lot of fun – I love that world. Even in preliminary meetings, we were discussing: 'What if this or that happened?' There's a really rich foundation there."
The plot of the prequel is still being kept under wraps. Since Netflix will only decide on a full season after the pilot is created, it is too early to talk about the series' release date.
