The creators of the mobile port of RPCS3 continue to refine the emulator and expand the list of compatible games.

The developers of the experimental PlayStation 3 emulator for Android, ARMSX3, have released several updates, bringing the project to version 0.9.4. The main new feature is support for network play via RPCN — an open alternative to PlayStation Network, also used by the original RPCS3 on PC.

Users can now create RPCN accounts directly within the app, save multiple servers, and switch between them. Address forwarding settings have also been added for connecting to community-restored game servers.

Other changes include importing saves via the ARMSX3 interface, USB keyboard emulation, and access to virtual PS3 system settings. Users can change the console's language and region, date format, and confirmation button. Additionally, the developers have improved vibration and the L2 and R2 triggers.

Updates also affected game compatibility. Borderlands 2 now reaches the main menu, Bleach: Soul Resurrección works in story mode, and Assassin’s Creed and Iron Man 2 no longer freeze during loading. Shader compilation has also been moved to energy-efficient processor cores to reduce load during gameplay.

In version 0.9.4, developers fixed freezes during gameplay and added graphics pipeline caching. After the first launch, this should reduce delays associated with shader compilation.

The latest version of ARMSX3 can be downloaded for free on GitHub.
