A Sherlock Holmes game where AI generates real-time dialogue text and voice acting has been released on Steam
Detective Sherlock: Shadow Stalker (or "Detective Sherlock: Hunter for Shadow" in Russian localization) was recently released on PC via Steam. Gamercury studio presented its project in "early access" format and intends to gradually refine it.
A distinctive feature of this project about the adventures of the legendary detective is the use of AI technologies. According to the developers, this is a detective game with "truly living NPCs" — each character remembers, observes, checks the player, and can deceive like a living person: "They have emotions, voices, facial expressions, and hidden secrets. Break them with words or evidence — or realize too late that you were just a pawn."
The events unfold in the Victorian city of Dartmoor in the 19th century. Players will have to compete in wit with dozens of AI-controlled characters and "uncover the truth hidden behind curses, lies, and murders." Players will be able to freely communicate with each NPC and conduct interrogations:
You don't just click dialogue options. You wage psychological warfare with NPCs that feel alive. Find clues, expose lies, and uncover secrets hidden in their hearts.
In the description on the game's Steam page, the developers explained that only dialogue text and voice acting are generated in real-time using AI. The program code and 3D assets were created manually.
The Detective Sherlock: Shadow Stalker page on Steam is available at the following link. The developers expect the game to remain in "early access" for 3 to 6 months. The current version offers about 20 hours of content.
