Players are trying to achieve change in the industry to maintain the operability of service games. Some developers have appreciated the Stop Killing Games movement.

Recently, during an interview with The Gamer, the head of Gearbox touched on the topic of Stop Killing Games.

Randy Pitchford shared his thoughts, drawing a parallel between the mortality of service games and people:

«I've lost games, and it's a very emotional experience, so I admire this activism. But it's a strange and complex problem, because, it seems to me, if we want games to be real "live services", then it seems like these are mutually exclusive conditions, and it's unacceptable for something to be alive and not be able to die. I don't know how to get around that».

He continued:

«I hate the fact that someday the people I care about [will die], and someday I will be gone too. I just hate it. And I would like to be here forever because I don't want to miss anything, and I hate the thought of someone missing me, and I just need to accept it and come to terms with it.

Randy admitted that he likes that humanity is fighting — he believes that it is thanks to this that people now live longer:

«…I think if we continue this struggle, maybe tomorrow we can live even longer, and our games — even longer. Therefore, I really appreciate this activism, and I think it comes from the same heart as mine — a heart that loves valuable experiences and just wants them to stay with us forever».

The Gearbox boss's reasoning went beyond the gaming industry and human life — he recalled the end of the Universe, as well as the studio's failed game:

«The truth is that there will come a time, in trillions and trillions of years, when the Universe will exist in a state of heat death, and everything will fall apart [..]. Battleborn was just about the last star that existed before that moment, because all the stars in the Universe will disappear. And it's so sobering to think that everything will end. Not only us, but literally everything, and I hate it, and I hate the fact that we have to live in a Universe that will be destroyed. And I like that I hate it, because it makes me fight it».
