PlayStation 6 risks becoming a product for the wealthy, according to a recent report from Circana. Experts note that the console market is undergoing significant changes, and prices will continue to rise.
According to analyst Matt Piscatella, 43% of gaming hardware sales in the US today come from families with incomes above $100,000 per year. In comparison, this figure was 36% a few years ago. This clearly shows how the profile of buyers is changing.
It is also noted that young people are losing interest in consoles. Gamers aged 18–24 account for only 3% of all purchases, whereas two years ago their share reached 10%. The decline is huge, and it could severely impact the industry.
Young players are increasingly choosing mobile projects like Roblox, Minecraft, and Fortnite. Experts warn that the lack of a new generation of users could lead to a crisis in the gaming sphere.
Piscatella stated: "If young people don't start playing on PlayStation now, it will be very difficult to attract them in the future." The consequences of this trend are already noticeable, and the future of consoles remains uncertain.
