The game was wishlisted over a million times, so the audience is expected to continue growing. On the platform, reviews are currently "very positive," and the average score on Metacritic is 78.
Initially, the project was conceived as DLC, but eventually turned into a full-fledged game. Although the starting numbers did not exceed the predecessor's figures, the result for a single-player game can be considered quite decent. Techland noted that even half of the wishlisted players could purchase the game, which promises a large audience growth.
At the time of publication, Steam recorded a peak of 89,927 players, and most reviews rate the game above average. Metacritic traditionally gives stricter ratings for the franchise: the first part received 74, despite its popularity with fans, which makes The Beast the highest-rated project in the series.
Previously, the original game reached a peak of 45,000 players, and the sequel — more than 250,000. Thus, Dying Light: The Beast occupies a middle position, but the number of players is projected to grow over the weekend. The release took place on Thursday, and the game may still surpass Dying Light 2 in terms of simultaneous audience.
