Daniel Vavra did not hold back when commenting on the news.
On November 26, the European Parliament passed a resolution with an overwhelming majority (483 votes in favor, 92 against, and 86 abstentions), calling for a minimum age of 16 for children to access social networks, video platforms, and artificial intelligence chatbots.
According to the resolution, children aged 13 to 16 will only be able to access these platforms with the written consent of their parents or guardians. It is proposed to use confidential age verification methods for this, such as the EU digital wallet, which will ensure the protection of users' personal data. A complete ban on access to these services is introduced for children under 13 years of age.
The resolution also holds the heads of technology platforms accountable for violating these rules.
TikTok, Snapchat, YouTube and other social platforms may face sanctions if they systematically ignore the new standards.
Game designer, co-founder of Warhorse studio and creator of the Kingdom Come: Deliverance dilogy, Daniel Vavra criticized the decision of the European Parliament on his page on social network X.
*** censorship. A sad day for the EU. Denmark is pushing us towards universal internet censorship under the guise of protecting children. This morning, the European Council adopted the Chat Control Act (despite Czech resistance). Now, the European Parliament has approved a resolution calling for children under 16 to be denied access to the Internet.
