Sandfall Interactive managed without hundreds of millions of dollars.
The creators of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 continue to communicate with journalists, and during a recent conversation with The New York Times, they spoke about the project's budget.
As it turned out, the development of one of the main contenders for the title of \"Game of the Year (2025)\" required less than 10 million dollars.
This is less than many thought: earlier, assumptions were made online about a budget of $15-25 million.
However, there are a couple of nuances: it is not specified whether the \"10 million\" includes marketing costs; and the developers previously said that the costs of Hollywood actors were covered by the publisher, i.e., were not considered part of the production budget.
In a conversation with GameSpot, game director Guillaume Broche was asked if Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has one true or \"good\" ending. The developer replied that there was a lot of debate about this in the team:
I think the reaction to the endings and which one is considered \"good\" is extremely subjective and depends on each player's personal life experience.
And then added:
In life, there is not always a clear \"right\" or \"wrong\" choice that will suit everyone — and it is the existence of this gray area, complex decisions, that makes us real people. Ultimately, all that matters is how you yourself interpret the ending and the story as a whole.
