Final Fantasy VII Remake Creator Doesn't Want to Tackle FFVI Remake
After many years of working on the FF7 remake trilogy, Naoki Hamaguchi is not ready to lead a project of this scale again.
Final Fantasy VII Remake director Naoki Hamaguchi has stated that he does not intend to lead a possible remake of the sixth installment in the series. According to him, after more than ten years dedicated to the FF7 Remake project, he has no desire to take on such a large-scale reimagining of a classic again.
Hamaguchi revealed this in an interview with GamerBraves. The developer noted that more than ten years have passed since the announcement of FF7 Remake in 2015, and by the time the final part of the trilogy is released - tentatively in 2027 - work on the project will have taken almost twelve years of his life in total.
At the same time, the director emphasized that he likes the idea of updating Final Fantasy VI, but other people should implement it."I would rather support them from the sidelines and encourage them than immerse myself in a remake again," Hamaguchi noted.
Rumors about a possible FF6 Remake have been circulating for several years. Many fans consider the sixth installment one of the best in the history of the Final Fantasy series and have long been asking Square Enix to give it a modern reimagining like FF7. However, the company still has no official plans for the project, and Hamaguchi's words only reinforce the opinion that if the remake does happen, another team will be working on it.
