The informant expects a re-announcement in 2026.
Rumors surrounding the Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) remake, which was announced five years ago, have become active again. An insider known by the handle 100% Star Wars shared fresh details about the project. He claims that he saw materials from the remake being developed by Saber Interactive and was "extremely impressed" by most of what he saw.
According to him, he saw both versions of the game: the canceled remake from Aspyr and the new version from Saber, which was being created from scratch. He called it the right decision to restart development from scratch and added that a possible re-announcement could take place as early as 2026.
Having seen both, I think the cancelling of Aspyr's Remake with Saber starting from scratch was the right choice.
If things continue smoothly, possible reveal this year... https://t.co/YS2b9E25fh
Answering users’ questions in the comments, the insider clarified that he cannot share details, but Aspyr’s version of the game was more action-oriented and resembled a "poor man’s Fallen Order" with a pause mechanic similar to that in the Final Fantasy VII remake. What combat system is used in Saber’s version has not been disclosed.
Earlier, in a conversation with IGN, Saber Interactive Chief Creative Officer Tim Willits confirmed that the remake is "still in development," and fans can only wait for an official showcase.
