The company continues to face pressure from various sides.
Recently, Valve has been sued over loot boxes. The company's legal problems are not limited to this.
Now, the Performing Right Society (PRS), a British organization for the protection of copyright on musical works, is initiating legal proceedings. The reason is some games presented in the Steam store.
PRS noted that Steam offers "many games that use musical works by PRS members," including "high-profile series" such as Forza Horizon, FIFA/EA FC, and GTA.
PRS stated that it "has been trying to cooperate with Valve on licensing issues for many years, but has not received proper interaction from Valve."
Now, the association has decided to file a lawsuit in accordance with the law "On Copyright, Designs and Patents" and demands that any game using works from the PRS catalog receive the appropriate license:
The legal proceedings will continue unless Valve starts a constructive dialogue and obtains the necessary license to use the PRS repertoire – both [for already presented and future projects].
